Material Handler

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

Responsible for material handling, cycle counting, and data entry. Maintain, secure, and monitor all warehouse locations. Serve as an indirect back-up for shipping, receiving, and work order picking. Continually monitor the warehousing and storage of raw components and finished products. Perform all ancillary roles of the Materials department as required.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Safely operate forklift and pallet jack to move materials throughout the warehouse
  2. Execute cycle counts as directed
  3. Ensure that all warehouse areas are being properly utilized and organized accordingly
  4. Loading and unloading trucks
  5. Package and label finished goods
  6. Help pick work orders and QF47s
  7. Count and put away receiving as necessary
  8. Perform other tasks and projects as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

Knowledge:

 –          A strong focus on safety

–          Basic understanding of warehousing principles

–          A working knowledge of material handling systems

–          Previous forklift experience preferred

Skills:

–          Basic computer skills (Email, Microsoft Word, Excel, Intuitive ERP)

–          Strong written and verbal communication

–          Exemplary organization and time management

–          Stringent attention to detail

–          Solid math and counting skills

–          Ability to learn new tasks, skills and software

–          Physical ability and stamina to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, complete strenuous tasks, and work in a fast paced environment

–          Team player

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

Education:     High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience:    1 – 2 years of experience in warehousing, logistics or material handling

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Warehouse & Logistics Manager

AUTHORITIES/DECISIONS MADE AS PART OF REGULAR DUTIES:

 – Safe use of all warehouse equipment

– Warehouse item placement and organization

– Ensure items are counted thoroughly and accurately

 

WORKING CONDITIONS / EQUIPMENT:

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and complete daily strenuous physical tasks

Must be willing and able to operate a forklift (certification not required upon hire)

Local travel required with company van
