Mechanical Engineer

Position Overview:

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for owning and driving all mechanical aspects of a project, as well as ensuring the timely delivery of a robust solution that will meet requirements. The individual must work directly with the Program Manager and Systems Engineer, as well as cross-functionally with other areas of the organization to gather and determine requirements, assist in solution development and design, and help solve issues as they arise relative to the mechanical aspects of projects.

 

Requirements:

–          BSME Degree with a minimum of five years of experience

–          Minimum experience of five years in SolidWorks

–          Design new products and/or modify existing products for specific customer

applications

–          Create 3D CAD models and drawings for components ranging in complexity from

injection molded parts to sheet metal brackets

–          Capable of translating design concepts into manufacturable products, components and

fixtures

–          Generate mechanical design artifacts for quotation, prototyping and manufacturing

–          Able to perform full design solution tolerance stack analysis

–          Engage suppliers on all aspects of the design (manufacturing, quality, cost)

–          Conduct design reviews with a cross functional team

–          Communicate effectively with customers

–          Easily grasps engineering concepts and applies to mechanical design

–          Understands and applies regulatory requirements appropriately

–          Able to work on multiple projects, balancing schedule to meet priorities

–          Excellent verbal and written communications

–          Excellent organizational skills

–          Minimal travel to suppliers and vendors

–          First article inspection of parts; work with quality department to identify critical

features on component drawings required for incoming inspection

–          Ability to lead and think independently

–          Good analytical and problem-solving skills

–          Able to work effectively in team environment

 

The ideal candidate would also possess:

–          Experience in design for injection molding and sheet metal processes

–          Thermal and shock analysis experience

–          GD&T skills

–          DFMEA

–          DFM/DFA

–          FEA/FEM analysis
